Donald MacDonald Architects provided aesthetic design assistance, model building, and renderings for the engineering clients for this new five span arch bridge over the Sacramento River in Redding, California. The new bridge parallels the historic Diestelhorst Bridge through the use of a modern vocabulary, but retains the proportions and scale of the existing structure.

Detailed design and coordination with bridge engineers continued through the construction documents, lighting, materials, surfaces, and the roadway and bridge profiles (which were fully developed during this period). The structure spans a public riverfront park and a seasonal salmon breeding ground.
