Anacostia Pedestrian Bridge, Anacostia, Washington, D.C.

In this pedestrian bridge competition, MacDonald Architects and Arup Engineers presented this design as one of four finalists. This version of the Anacostia Bridge combines landscape design, innovative engineering and public art to reflect on the natural and urban environments of the area.

The design tries to capture the movement through and the essence of time experienced in space.

The bridge seeks to express the energy of this site where different neighborhood and transit modes come together.
