Bicycle Safety Rail:
Donald MacDonald Architects provided the design criteria (in association with Imbsen & Associates) to create bicycle safety rails for the East and West sides of the bridge. The rails would provide a physical separation between the vehicle travel lanes and the bicycle/pedestrian sidewalk.

MacDonald Architects proposed several alternatives for a barrier that would not contradict with any of the historic and aesthetic features of the existing structure. Visit Golden Gate Bridge site to see current progress
